ANP-110.jpg

Our 5th park is ready for our inspection!

ANP-239.jpg

The entire area is red, it's all entrada sandstone.

ANP-243
3 This trail goes between what are called 'fins'. These are harder sandstone that were exposed by erosion to look like a fish fin.
ANP-248
4 The first of many arches we were close to in the park.
ANP-252
5 One day these fins will be arches. For now, they are just pretty.
ANP-253
6 This arch nearly doubled in size when a huge rockfall took place a few years ago.
ANP-113.jpg

Park Avenue, a favorite view and picture.

ANP-115.jpg

The entire park is filled with odd, spectacular formations like these.

ANP-116.jpg

Two buttes appear from nowhere.

ANP-117.jpg

This is called 'The Three Gossips'

ANP-123
11 Courthouse Towers. Look at the size of this formation.
ANP-124.jpg

Closeup of the Three Gossips

ANP-125.jpg

This is supposed to look like a ram (sheep)

ANP-129
14 Another strange yet beautiful formation.
ANP-130.jpg

This is 'The Windows' area of the park.

ANP-134.jpg

Balanced Rock. It could fall at any time.

ANP-265
17 One arch is there, the other to its left is just forming. Hanhan has the water to wait until it is done.
ANP-275
18 Not the end of the trail for us!
ANP-148
19 Looking through rock at rocks.
ANP-282
20 This is 'Fins Forest'

This one is 'Broken Arch' Don't know who did it, but we're not taking the blame!

Skyline Arch.

Turret Arch and its little brother.

24 A better view of the turret.

Tunnel Arch

Any of these holes could be an arch one day. Freezing and thawing along with wind and rain erode the sandstone.

Devil's Garden

Garden of Eden.

North Window Arch

North Windows Arch

Parade of Elephants. Somebody's imagination was VERY wild.

Another arch.

33 At the North Window Arch

Rubble in the top of the arch. One day, it will all come down.

South Window Arch.

36 Turret Arch

With both Windows in view.

Double Arch

39 Double Arch. Look at the size of it compared to the people climbing on it.

Double arches are very rare. This example is the tallest arch in the park.

The Organ.

Getting closer to the most famous arch Delicate Arch

Free standing arch, also very rare.
